ABOUT
About Sheryl
I’m Sheryl Stephenson, the artist behind Wild Hues Studio. I create vibrant animal artwork inspired by wildlife, beloved pets, and the moments of connection that stop us in our tracks.
My work is driven by curiosity and observation — the intensity in an animal’s gaze, the tilt of a head, the personality that shows up when you really pay attention. Whether I’m working on a large wildlife painting, a small paint-pen study, or illustrating Little Explorers: A BC Wildlife Alphabet, I’m drawn to colour, movement, and expression rather than perfect realism.
Living in coastal British Columbia, the natural world is woven into my daily life and creative process. Time outdoors, a lifelong love of animals, and an active, hands-on studio practice all shape the way I work. My hope is that each piece brings energy, warmth, and a sense of connection into your space — art that feels alive and invites you to look a little longer.

Art with Purpose
Protecting the wild places that inspire my work matters deeply to me. I’m proud to support Raincoast Conservation Foundation, a science-based Canadian charity dedicated to protecting the lands, waters, and wildlife of coastal British Columbia.
Raincoast Conservation Foundation applies a unique model of informed advocacy grounded in rigorous, peer-reviewed science and community engagement. Their work includes applied conservation research through the University of Victoria, conservation genetics research at the Pacific Science Enterprise Centre, a 68-foot research sailing vessel, and a coastally focused land trust — making their approach truly unique in Canada.
A portion of the proceeds from select projects and publications supports Raincoast’s ongoing conservation efforts.
Supporting their work is one small way I can give back to the ecosystems that continue to inspire my art.
